A judge has denied Amanda Bynes release from a psychiatric hospital where she has been staying since last week.

TMZ reports that Bynes’ lawyer argued that his client is no longer a threat to herself or others, but still a judge denied the former Nickelodeon actress exit from the psychiatric hospital. Bynes was placed on 5150 psychiatric watch nearly 10 days ago after setting fire to a driveway in Thousand Oaks, Ca. At the time of her arrest, Bynes was spotted without pants and holding a red gas can.

Days later a judge ordered to extend her 72-hour stay to two weeks saying he thought doctors needed more time to properly diagnose the troubled 27-year-old.

Bynes is reportedly doing better now that she is taking medication to help her think clearly, TMZ sources state that the Easy A actress is showing signs of schizophrenia. Doctors fear if she leaves the hospital too early she will stop taking the medication as she has yet to acknowledge that she has a mental illness.
