Justin Timberlake has been added to the ever-growing list of performers for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. In addition to performing, the “Mirrors” singer will also receive the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award.
MTV made the news official today, just hours after Timberlake revealed the tracklist to his next album, The 20/20 Experience - 2 of 2.
The Vanguard Award has been presented to artists like R.E.M., the Beastie Boys, Madonna and the man who it is now named after - Michael Jackson. It’s MTV’s way of recognizing an artist’s incredible resume and Timberlake certainly qualifies. He’s won 14 VMAs for his work as a solo artist and with ‘NSYNC.
Timberlake is up for six VMAs this year, but at least he knows that he’s guaranteed to get one special award. His "Mirrors" video is nominated for video of the year.
Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry will also perform at the VMAs, which is scheduled for Aug. 25.
The 20/20 Experience - 2 of 2 is set to be released on Sept. 20.
