Kanye West will set a MTV Video Music Awards record with his record-breaking seventh performance at the awards show. He will tie with Madonna for the most performances.

He started his reign in 2004, when he performed “Jesus Walks,” “All Falls Down” and “Through the Wire” with Chaka Khan. In 2005 he performed “Gold Digger” with Jamie Foxx. He continued his performances two years later with T.I., doing “Stronger” and “Good Life.”

According to USA Today, his last three were in 2008, 2010 and 2011.

Possibly his most famous appearance at the MTV VMAs was in 2009, when he didn’t take the stage but he did interrupt Taylor Swift when she won the award for Best Female Video over Beyonce.

When Swift was nominated this year in the same category as well as Video of the Year for her single “I Knew You Were Trouble,” she tweeted "Two VMA nominations!! If you vote and get us one, I promise to keep a firmer grip on the mic this time :)"

Billboard reports West will perform his Yeezus single, "BLKKK SKKN HEAD” at this year’s show.
