Katy Perry released her first song off of her new album Prism called “Roar” on Monday, and MTV has announced she will perform the single at the upcoming Video Music Awards.
This will mark the four-time VMA winner’s first performance at the popular event since 2009. That year, she sang a cover of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” with Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, USA Today reports.
Other performers that have been announced already include Kanye West and Lady Gaga.
Perry also debuted another song on Monday, a duet with her boyfriend John Mayer called “Who You Love.” She explained a giggle she lets out towards the end of the song, saying "I think that's just a love giggle. It's like the ones that Mariah Carey had in 1990 and stuff like that . . . Yeah I think I was going for that, I think I was just so happy, I love that song . . ."
Justin Timberlake and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis tie with the most MTV VMA nominations this year with six each, and Bruno Mars trails behind with four nominations.
The event will broadcast live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Aug. 25.
