We already know Katy Perry will be performing her first single off of her new album Prism called “Roar,” at the MTV Video Music Awards tonight, but it’s not being reported that her first live performance of the song won’t be held inside the Brooklyn Barclays Center but instead underneath the Brooklyn Bridge.
The original plan was that Perry, 27, would perform on top of the bridge, but the city wouldn’t give them permits for it, according to sources.
Us Weekly reports in the first week it was released, “Roar” sold 557,000 digital downloads, which is a personal best for Perry. It’s the sixth best release for a digital single in history.
Tonight’s event will be star-studded, with Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and many more also scheduled to perform.
Justin Timberlake and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are tied with the most MTV VMA nominations this year with six each, and Bruno Mars trails behind with four nominations.
