Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has made it no secret on Twitter how much he dislikes Lady Gaga's new single "Applause." His mean-spirited actions on the social media site riled up Gaga's fans, which led the singer to break her silence on Friday.
According to E! News, Gaga wrote on Twitter, "Please monsters do not be affected by someone like this NOTHING merits this kind of hatred. Im ok & I always survive. Ignore him. Just Dance."
Ever since Gaga's "Applause" and Katy Perry's "Roar" dropped on earlier this week, the media has been pitting the singers against each other. Perez has been a strong proponent of promoting Perry's single over Gaga's. Since "Roar" sits higher than "Applause" on the iTunes chart, he has even been suggesting that Gaga is now a flop singer.
Gaga's fans have not been happy with how Perez has been treating her on Twitter. Despite saying ignore Perez, Gaga also shared a moment between the two, which probably made her fans even more upset with the blogger.
USA Today reports that Gaga wrote about a recent encounter with Perez via text message. "Still have the text Perez sent me of me in a wheelchair w the words KARMA written across + Madonna pointing a gun at me. Day of my accident," she posted on Twitter.
Perez has not yet responded to Gaga's tweets, but he still continues to passive aggressively slam her single on Twitter. "Applause" previews Gaga's new album, Artpop, due out on November 11.
