Police have found text messages and letters exchanged between Hannah Anderson, the 16-year-old girl who was kidnapped for almost a week by the family friend that killed her mother and brother, prior to her abduction.
Joe DiMaggio, 40, was like an uncle to the Anderson family before he became immensely infatuated with Hannah and reportedly had a romantic crush on her. According to Fox, police have found 13 text messages and calls made between Hannah and DiMaggio on Aug. 4, the same day he abducted her.
After a search warrant in DiMaggio’s home, police found letters from Hannah, duct tape, handcuff boxes, cut electrical cords, model rocket containers, and two used condoms. Authorities would not reveal what was said in the letters or text messages, but stressed that Hannah was a victim and the feelings were not mutual.
“He just made her uncomfortable and creeped out. She stopped texting him and she thought she could avoid him,” Hannah’s friend Marissa Chavez said, Santee Patch reports. “He was like, upset by that.”
Police found Hannah’s mother, 44-year-old Christina Anderson, and her brother, 8-year-old Ethan Anderson, dead after a fire in DiMaggio’s Boulevard, California home, the same day they realized he kidnapped Hannah.
After a six-day manhunt, FBI agents rescued Hannah last Saturday in Idaho wilderness and shot and killed DiMaggio.
