Lil Wayne has seen his star begin to dim recently. He is no longer the guy you hear all over the radio, or the go to feature for every song. Wayne has promised to work extra hard to get his name back into the limelight. The first step in this process will be the fifth addition to his Dedication mixtape series with DJ Drama.

Weezy released an album earlier in the year, 'I Am Not A Human Being 2', which was not received particularly well, and didn't chart nearly as well as his other albums did. Wayne's fall of the map could be contributed to the fact that he's been in the rap game for over 15 years, and has found a new love in skateboarding which takes away from his music time.

With the MTV Video Music Awards and the BET Hip Hop Awards coming up Wayne sent out a tweet on Saturday apologizing to fans for his absence, saying "Noticed I wasn't nominated nor involved n da MTV VMA's nor da BET awards...I apologize to my fans and I promise 2 work harder if it kills me," according to Vibe.

Wayne had announced that he planned to retire from music after he released the fifth installment of his Tha Carter album series, but it appears that is not coming anytime soon. He has announced plans for several other projects before even considering 'Tha Carter 5'. These projects include an album with Birdman, and Drake, and a love album called 'Devol'.

The next project for Wayne, though, will be the 'Dedication 5', which he released the artwork for on Sunday. Hotnewhiphop reports that the mixtape will be released on September 30, only five days after the announcement.

We will have to see if Weezy is able to live up to his promise, and provide vintage Wayne on his upcoming music, because his last few works have lowered the bar that he had previously set so high.
