Lindsay Lohan spoke out about why she wasn't at the Venice Film Festival. According to her, she had never agreed to be there in the first place.
When Lohan didn't show up on the red carpet at the film festival, it led to speculation that she was skipping out, reports People Magazine. Reportedly, she was supposed to appear to promote her new film, The Canyons. Paul Schrader, the director of the film, described what working with her on the film was like to the press. Schrader said that he felt that he had been frustrated by the 27-year-old's lack of responsibility for the sixteen months of filming.
Schrader said, "For the last 16 months I've been held hostage, by my own choosing, to a very talented but unpredictable actress." He went on to say, "She was supposed to be here today. She said she would be, but she is not." Schrader seemed to be happy that his work with Lohan was over, stating that he was now a "free man."
According to NY Daily News, a rep for Lohan told ABC News, “She wanted to come, but for reasons out of her control it did not work out." Furthermore, Lohan posted a message countering his statement on her website on Saturday. Lohan responded, "I was never confirmed to attend. Of course I would have enjoyed returning to that wonderful city and being a part of this amazing event, but my focus is on my health and well-being. Plain and simple it is of the utmost importance."
Lohan was recently invited to be on the 38th season opener of Saturday Night Live. Lohan has long had ties to the program, having appeared on it five times, and starring in the film Mean Girls alongside former SNL star Tina Fey. Lohan is reportedly strongly considering doing the program.
