Steve Aoki is a talented Los Angeles DJ and producer who has made remarkable mixed beats that have the world dancing across the world. Aoki has worked with an array of talented artists including Kid Cudi, Travis Barker and Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo. His recent collaboration is with hard rock riveting band Linkin Park.
The collaboration of Linkin Park and Aoki was revealed during his show at the Summer Sonic festival in Tokyo, Japan. Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington graced the stage and sang the song “A Light That Never Comes” over Aoki’s flawless beat.
Billboard reports Shinoda hinted about the collaboration with Aoki on twitter by tweeting, "Steve and I met up like a year ago, maybe more. It happened pretty organically, just shooting ideas back and forth."
Aoki produces a high-energy dance beat that laces effortlessly with Shinoda’s rapping and Bennington’s singing of the chorus. It is a unique and refreshing collaboration that had the crowd screaming for more. Shinoda and Bennington yell “jump, jump, jump!” towards the end of the performance and its safe to say that it wasn’t needed since the crowd was going wild from the begging to the end of the performance.
About working with Linkin Park Aoki told Radio.com, “They’re literally one of the biggest bands in the world, at least for me. They’re like, literally one of the top 10 biggest bands in the world. I swear to God. Working with them is incredible.”
Aoki compared Linkin Parks sound to the ground breaking band Rage Against the Machine by saying, “At least like, as far as influence in their culture, they’re to me like the Rage Against the Machine of their sound. Rage Against the Machine is my favorite band, so…”
Aoki is hard at work with his upcoming appearances at the New York’s Electric Zoo Festival 2013 that is scheduled for Labor Day weekend. Avicii, Tiesto, and David Guetta will also be performing at the festival.
