Country star Luke Bryan has had an amazing year so far, especially after he won big at the Academy of Country Music Awards in April. While some musicians have built on their success with television gigs, Bryan said in a new interview that he’s not interested. He’d rather keep performing.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Bryan explained why he’s not doing what his ACM co-host Blake Shelton did with The Voice.

“It's my first year in,” Bryan, 37, said. “I won entertainer of the year and I ain't really been an entertainer yet, or what the definition of that is. I had the same feelings when I was asked to co-host with Blake. I turned the ACMs down the first time.”

Bryan said that he’d rather cement his spot in the country music industry before he becomes a television personality. Although, he already has plenty of hits under his belt and fans, considering that Spring Break...Here To Party debuted at the top of Billboard in March and then his fans helped him win that Entertainer of the Year award.

“I'm getting really, really amazing TV opportunities where it's quite lucrative financially and it would have been stuff in different public spotlights,” Bryan told the AP. “I can't believe I'm turning them down, but when I huddle up with my core group of people and think about it, I think it's neat to just handle the headlining right now. I don't think I'm savvy enough as a headliner to start taking it for granted.”
