Macklemore thanks Kanye West for 'raising the bar as an artist' at VMA's (Video)

Kanye West’s low-key appearance and performance is a far cry from former years. When he met Macklemore & Ryan Lewis backstage at the VMA’s he was polite and kindly accepted their compliments.

The duo, who were with their “Same Love” collaborator Mary Lambert were excited to meet the Yeezus rapper backstage and each got their turn to embrace him

Macklemore told West, "Thank you for raising the bar as an artist, appreciate it,” MTV News reports. He also complimented his performance, saying "You killed that sh--."

The new dad to North West with girlfriend Kim Kardashian then went on to shake hands with Lewis and hug Lambert, who also kissed him on the cheek.

Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Lambert also performed, singing their hit “Same Love” with Jennifer Hudson. Macklemore & Lewis also won three Music Video Awards.
