The Expendables 3 will include two more high profile names. Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas, two more action film veterans, will join Sylvester Stallone’s film.
Gibson will play Stallone’s main rival in the new film, Stallone’s reps confirmed to TheWrap.
Banderas, who worked with Stallone in Assassins, is also joining. “Antonio is a consummate actor and a gentleman,” Stallone said.
Gibson has been taking supporting parts as of late and will also be seen as the villain in Machete Kills in October. In that film, he plots to destroy the world and the only person who can stop him is Danny Trejo’s Machete.
Expendables 3 has been in the headlines lately, after Stallone criticized Bruce Willis of being “greedy and lazy” on Twitter. It was later reported that Willis was offered $3 million for four days of work, but he wanted $4 million. Willis was replaced by Harrison Ford.
Expendables 3 hits theaters on August 2014 and will also star Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham.
