Meryl Streep had a busy Tuesday, first agreeing to work with Robert De Niro for the first time in 17 years. Just hours later, the most Oscar nominated actress in history signed on to The Giver with Jeff Bridges.

The Giver is the acclaimed novel by Lois Lowry and the winner of the 1994 Newbery medal. The Weinstein Company and Walden Media will be co-producing the film version, which will be directed by Phillip Noyce, notes Deadline.

Streep will play a chief elder, keeping everyone in line in a utopian society. But that life is in danger since a young man, played by Brenton Thwaites, has been given memories of what life was like before everything became the same. Bridges, who just starred in R.I.P.D., will play the title character, the man who is giving the memories to the younger man.

According to Variety, production will start in the fall and Bridges is co-producing with Nikki Silver.

Also on Tuesday, Streep signed on for The Good House with Robert De Niro. That project doesn’t have a director attached.

Streep will be seen in August: Osage County this fall. She won her most recent Oscar for the Weinsteins’ The Iron Lady.
