A Miami man posted disturbing photographs of his dead wife on Facebook after allegedly shooting her while her 10-year-old from a previous relationship played upstairs.

New York Daily News reports that Derek Medina posted the photos of Jennifer Alfonso on the social media site along with a murder confession, “I’m going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys take care Facebook people you will see me in the news.”

Medina claimed that he killed his wife after she would not stop punching him. He claims that this is what he had to do to stop the “abuse.”

“My wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope u understand me,” he wrote.

The account stayed active for nearly four hours, Daily News notes. After fatally shooting his wife, Medina drove his father’s house and confessed to killing his wife and saying that he needed to go to the police. His father drove him to the police station where he turned himself in.

Medina’s father, Derek, explained that his son and Alfonso were recently remarried after divorcing some time ago after three years of marriage.

According to Miami Herald, friends of Alfonso describe Medina as a jealous husband who didn’t want her working late nights. One of her coworkers stated that Alfonso would often come into work with bruises on her arms.

Medina was charged with first degree murder Thursday evening.
