A woman reported that her two kittens were missing in the New York City Subway, so power was cut while transit workers looked.
The Associated Press reports that for little over an hour on Thursday the B and Q subway lines were shut down as workers attempted to round up two missing kittens. One is black and the other white with gray stripes.
The two kittens were seen playing close to the infamous third rail as transit workers did their best to try and capture the pair. The owner, who refused to be identified, arrived with food for the workers to try and entice the kittens back to safety.
New York Daily News says that it wasn’t the owner, but rather a cat lover who saw photos on Twitter.
Some passengers volunteered to help look for the kittens, but transit workers wouldn’t let them because of safety issues.
Unfortunately the kittens weren’t easy to catch and power was restored as people witnessed the kittens running around with trains going by, notes NBC New York. Operators were told to keep a look out and stop the trains if they saw anything.
One witness, Kalina Roberts, wasn’t convinced the kittens would be rounded up, saying, “The man’s like, ‘Come here kittens’ … and like, he’s scaring the cat so they’re not going to come out.”
