Mumford and Sons reopened the historic Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in Queens Wednesday in front of a 16,000 fans.
The 90-year-old stadium once held performances by Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, The Associated Press reports. The folk rock group performed such hits as “Little Lion Man,” “I Will Wait” and “The Cave.”
During their show the band also rotated between playing with their guitars and banjos, to playing a game of tennis throwing balls out to eager fans. Interestingly enough, the stadium is offering refunds to patrons who did not fully enjoy themselves. The AP notes that the group remained pumped up throughout the performance and continued to enjoy the show even as the weather turned.
The Grammy Award winning group were forced to rescheduled some of their tour dates earlier this year after bassist Ted Dewan was hospitalized for a blood clot.
At the end of the show Mumford proudly told their fans, "We're really proud we're here to revitalize this venue.”
