One Direction heartthrob Zayn Malik is officially off the market. The British singer is engaged to longtime girlfriend Perrie Edwards.
A rep for the couple confirmed the news to People saying, "Zayn and Perrie are engaged, but any further detail regarding their relationship is private.”
Edwards debuted a three stone engagement ring at the London premiere of One Direction’s This is Us, prompting many to wonder if the two were in fact engaged Mirror reports.
A source states that Zayn proposed over the weekend while the two were alone. “It's one of the first weekends they've spent with each other, as they've both been on tours with their bands. He wanted to wait for the perfect moment,” the source explains. "All her bandmates were at V Festival, and she couldn't wait to tell them. They're all really excited for her, as the rest of One Direction are for Zayn."
Perrie’s mother, Debbie Duffy, also confirmed the news to Real Radio stating that Zayn took the traditional route by asking her first, then speaking to his own parents.
“It was fabulous, it was lovely. I was like a little marshmallow - it was so lovely,” she gushed. According to Duffy, Perrie and Zayn do not want a long engagement and will hopefully get their schedules to coincide to begin planning their wedding.
