D23, the big Disney convention, kicked off with a look at Pixar’s upcoming animated films in Anaheim, California.
Disney Animation Head John Lasseter presented previews of The Good Dinosaur (2014)Inside Out (2015), and the much anticipated Finding Dory set to be released in late 2015.
Like all of the Pixar movies, The Good Dinosaur, was inspired by a “what if” question. The question was: What if the asteroid that was supposed to end the age of dinosaurs miss Earth? According to C Net, John Lasseter said, “So many [Pixar] films start with the big questions we ask ourselves," Disney Chief Creative Officer and Pixar head John Lasseter began. "What if toys were alive after you left the room….But this is the biggest what if ever."
It’s a very interesting premise. The dinosaurs function in agricultural society by using their spikes, teeth, and claws as farm equipment helping humans rather than attacking them. The cast list includes John Lithgow, Frances McDormand, Neil Patrick Harris, Bill Hader, and Judy Greer.
The next preview Pixar showed was definitely more different than anything Pixar has made. The film is called Inside Out. The film takes the viewers inside the protagonist’s mind and personifies her emotions. A scene is shown where she is having an argument at the dinner table with her parents and the shift focuses between her emotions. The cast list includes Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Lewis Black, and Bill Hader.
The last preview they showed was the long awaited sequel, Finding Dory. The director, Andrew Stanton, came out and gave out some plot and cast details. MTV writes that the main plot will be about Dory looking to find her parents after a traumatic event shakes her memory. Eugene Levy, Ty Burrell, Diane Keaton, and, of course, Ellen DeGeneres are set to star in it.
