The newest Sony video game console was given a launch date of Nov. 15 during their press conference at Gamescom.

USA Today reported that the U.S. launch is Nov 15, while the European launch follows on Nov. 29.

Jack Tretton, CEO and president of Sony Computer Entertainment America told USA Today, “We’re pleased to have some of the final pieces of the puzzle coming together for consumers to make their decisions.” The PS4 will retail in the U.S. for $399.

While Nintendo’s next-gen console has been out for some time, Microsoft’s newest iteration of the Xbox, simply called Xbox One, is due out around the same time as the PS4, but no official date has been given, the BBC notes.

Some at Germany’s Gamescom seemed unsure of Sony’s future in the console market as the Xbox One’s list of exclusive titles “continues to grow,” associate editor of Computer and Video Games news site commented. “Sony has made fantastic progress as it prepares to release the PS4, but the console still lacks a show-stopping exclusive game.”

Tretton, however, was naturally more optimistic about Sony's system saying to USA Today, "We are very excited excited about the fact that we have 180 games in development and that there will be over 30 of them available on shelves before the end of the holiday season."

In addition to finally revealing a launch date, Sony’s handheld, the PS Vita, saw a price cut down to $199 for the wi-fi version.

Launch windows for new consoles are notorious for often lacking great titles, and USA Today reports that Sony, trying to combat that, has announced 33 games to be released during that time, such as Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag.
