The producers of the porn company that distributed Deep Throat, the 1970s porno that Linda Lovelace starred in, is trying to block the film Lovelace from happening.
Amanda Seyfried plays Lovelace in the film about the porn star’s career and eventual involvement in the Women Against Pornography movement.
According to TMZ, Arrow Productions, who owns the copyright, is suing for their use of using three scenes from Deep Throat in Lovelace. They’re suing for $10 million and trying to get a court order to block distribution of the film.
When a similar film to Lovelace, Inferno was in the works (with Lindsay Lohan attached) Arrow Productions gave permission to use the scenes. However, they say they didn’t give any permission for them use the scenes in Lovelace when Inferno died off.
BBC notes Arrow claims in the lawsuit that there is over 5 minutes of unlicensed footage in the film.
In the paperwork, they said the company "and its partners were surprised to hear about Lovelace because no one had approached Arrow for a license to use any of Arrow's intellectual property.”
Lovelace comes out on Aug. 10 in the US and Aug. 23 in the UK.
