Despite once claiming that the Internet is “so over,” Prince has opted to join the Twitterverse.
Taking over the Twitter account @3rdeyegirl the “Purple Rain” singer sent out his first tweet Tuesday writing, “PRINCE'S 1ST TWEET... TESTING 1, 2...”
Entertainment Weekly notes that the 55-year-old singer has since taken to the not-so-new-to-us social media account, retweeting several of his fans who are marveling at the fact that the singer has alas decided to join the 21st century.
Prince has not tweeted anything of real significance since joining, posting his “1st selfie,” which appears to be a cloud of smoke, “PRINCE’S SECOND TWEET” and “PRINCE'S 3RD TWEET: DID EYE ADD 2 MUCH PEPPER?” Along with the tweet the singer opted to share a shot of his salad overrun with, naturally, pepper.
EW notes that Prince is not currently following anyone on Twitter, despite professing his love for Janelle Monae, whose album he appears on.
Currently Prince has over 39,000 followers.
