On Friday, federal agents conducted a huge arrest for gang members, including 263 MS-13 and their associates.

According to CNN, the two-month bust by federal agents targeted gang members suspected of murder, robbery, sexual assault, and kidnapping, among several other charges.

The MS-13 is a notorious violent gang, originating in Los Angeles, after Salvadorians immigrants wanted to escape civil wars. Since then, the gang has around 10,000 members around the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Central and South America. They are classified as transnational criminal enterprise.

UPI reports that among the arrests, 105 were from other gangs from 71 cities, 81 non-gang members who are suspected of other crimes, and 14 illegal US residents. In addition, Homeland Security Investigations were able to take 28 firearms, $22,390 in cash, and large amounts of marijuana, cocaine, and heroin.

This was not the first time authorities tried to take on the MS-13. In 2005, during a two-day operation, law enforcement arrested 660 gang members from El Salvador, United States, Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala.
