Robin Thicke can finally cash in on the buzz from “Blurred Lines” with album sales. Thicke’s album of the same name was released last week and easily earned the top spot on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Billboard reports that Blurred Lines sold 177,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan data. That’s also his best sales week, beating 2008’s Something Else, which debuted with 137,000 copies and only hit No.3.

It also shows how far Thicke has come since his first album, which was 2003’s A Beautiful World. That album only reached No. 152.

Thicke’s track “Blurred Lines” has topped the Hot 100 chart and stirred controversy over its lyrics and video with topless models. Still, his father, Growing Pains’ Alan Thicke defended his son’s song. You can check out our review of his performance for iHeartRadio Live last month.

Rock band Five Finger Death Punch’s The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell: Volume 1 started its chart run at No. 2 with 112,000 copies sold last week. Jay Z’s Magna Carta . . . Holy Grail fell to No. 3 with 62,000 copies sold.

The No. 4 slot was also held by another new release - Tech N9ne’s Something Else, with 58,000 copies. The Backstreet Boys’ new release In A World Like This sold 48,000 copies.

The Teen Beach Movie soundtrack sold 47,000 copies and Emblem3’s debut Nothing To Lose sold 46,000.

Selena Gomez’s Stars Dance slid all the way from No. 1 to No. 8 with just 31,000 copies sold in its second week. Kidz Bop 24 added 28,000 copies, while Florida George Line’s Here’s To The Good Times earned another week in the Top 10 with 28,000 copies.

Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” is back at No. 1 on the Digital Songs Chart with 405,000 downloads, while One Direction’s “Best Song Ever” slid all the way to No. 12 with just 91,000 downloads.
