A state of emergency was called in the city of San Francisco because of a wildfire in the Yosemite National Park 150 miles away.
California Governor, Jerry Brown, already called a state of emergency for the Yosemite area earlier this week. He called it again late Friday night for the city of San Francisco after the fire started to pose a threat to the city’s pipe lines, USA Today reports.
Currently, the city has been able to operate on existing resources and power bought off the open market. Among many reasons, Brown declared the state of emergency so that the city of San Francisco would be eligible for resources from the federal government.
The fire has only been five percent contained. Although no businesses in the Yosemite National Park have been shut down, business owners say tourism has been greatly lagging in one of their strongest seasons.
