This weekend, Skyfall actor Ben Whishaw came out of the closet. However, not only did he come out as gay, he also let out the fact that he’s been married over a year to Australian composer Mark Bradshaw.
His rep told Wonderwall, “Ben has never hidden his sexuality, but like many actors he prefers not to discuss his family or life outside of his work," his rep told the paper on Friday, Aug. 2. "Due to speculation, I can confirm that Ben and Mark entered into a civil partnership in August 2012. They were proud to do so and are very happy."
The happy couple on set of one of one of Whishaw’s earlier films, Bright Star where he played the lead role of John Keats and Bradshaw composed it.
Whishaw’s sexual orientation was debated upon when he was having an interview with Out Magazineand the question of whether or not gay celebrities should have positive role models came up.
He said, “I really agree with that, and I feel in my heart that it's important, but I don't quite know yet the way to go about that. Maybe that's the transitional thing I feel I'm in the middle of at the moment. It's something I think about, but it's important for me to do it at the time that's right for me.”
