The BET Hip Hop Awards have announced their nominees this year, and they have also revealed that veteran rapper Snoop Lion will host the soiree.
Kendrick Lamar, who recently turned the hip hop world upside down with his verse on Big Sean’s “Control,” leads with 14 nominations.
The event will be recorded on Sept. 28 at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center but won’t air until Oct. 15.
Following behind Lamar is Drake, who scored 13 nominations and J. Cole had the third most with 10, E! Online reports.
Snoop said of his hosting duties, "I'm excited to be hosting this year's BET Hip-Hop Awards 2013. We're going to have fun this year and I will make it a show to remember, ya dig? I'll be giving a ton of surprises... and bringing all my nieces and nephews to the stage for an exciting night of hip-hop,” Digital Spy reports.
The nominees for Album of the Year are J Cole for Born Sinner, Jay Z’s Magna Carta... Holy Grail, Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city, Nas for Life Is Good, and Wale’s The Gifted.
