A little-known hairbrush invented in Britain is getting rave reviews in the United States for ending epic tear-stained tantrums common to brushing tangles out of long hair.

The funny-looking hairbrush has a reputation for pain-free detangling.
Shaun Pulfrey invented the handle-free hairbrush in 2007. At first, his fellow entrepreneurs made fun of him. Sales at Sally Beauty Supply began slowly.

“I discovered the brush in London years ago,” Paul Labrecque, who owns salons New York, told The New York Times . “When I found out it was available here, I was thrilled and wanted to introduce them to my clients.”

The beauty supply chain only sold 1,000 brushes in the United States in 2010. By January, they sold 15,000 Tangle Teezers.

Users have gushed about the product on YouTube and Twitter.

“Read other reviews and thought I would try it after another tear filled morning trying to brush my daughter's hair,” a woman named “Busy TN mom” told Yahoo Shine . “I picked one up at my local Sally's Beauty supplies (I just couldn't wait for it to ship from Amazon) and brought it home for her to try. I started brushing her hair and she said, ‘Wow, wow, it really doesn't hurt.’ She took it from me and started brushing her own hair and hasn't stopped yet.”
