Police say a group of teenage kids killed an Austrailian baseball player attending school in the U.S because they were “bored.”
James Francis Edwards Jr. and Chancey Allen Luna were charged as adults for murder on Tuesday for the murder of 22-year-old Christopher Lane. Edwards is 15 and Luna is 16. A third 17-year-old teenager was charged as a juvenile with being an accessory to murder, according to according People Magazine.
“They were bored and wanted to see sombody die,” Ford told
ABC News.
The suspects followed Lane as he jogged along the road in Duncan, Okla on Aug. 16. The suspects then shot him in the back. Lane was attending East Central University in Ada, Okla. but was in Duncan to visit his girlfriend, according to Fox News
"I can assure you, he had no idea who these boys were," Ford told The Guardian. "He's a victim of opportunity, I'm sorry to say that. Somebody would have died that day, somebody mowing their yard, these boys had made up their mind.
Lane’s father, Peter told the media that his son was a normal kid. He said that he was proud.
"He did all the things a kid should have done," Mr Lane said, according to Herald Sun. "He caused us some grief but he caused us so much joy. He achieved a lot for a 22-year-old.”
