Three relatives of the man who shot and killed his former daughter-in-law, her friend, and himself, in the New Castle County Courthouse Feb. 11 are now being indicted on four charges related to the shootings.
Thomas Matusiewicz, 68, killed 39-year-old Christine Belford, who was his son’s ex-wife, and her friend, 47-year-old Laura Mulford when they were at the courthouse for a child support hearing.
His son, 46-year-old David Matusiewicz, pleaded guilty to fraud and kidnapping after him and his mother took his three daughters to Central America in 2007 when he was not in custody of them. Houston Chronicle reports that he was sentenced in 2009 but was released from prison last year.
His mother, 68-year-old Lenore Matusiewicz, was charged with endangering the welfare of her granddaughters because she helped her son take them to Central America, and spent over a year in a Delaware state prison.
Prosecutors announced Thursday that they are charging David, Lenore, and Lenore’s daughter Amy Gonzalez, for conspiracy, cyberstalking, and two counts of interstate stalking because they believe they knew Thomas was planning the shooting and may have even helped him.
According to Delaware Online, the family tried to spread false information about Belford using social media and even hacked into her Facebook account. Investigators believe the whole family was part of the plan to destroy Belford’s life.
The children are now in state custody.
