Twenty-two-year-old college basketball star Christopher Lane was killed Tuesday in Duncan, Oklahoma. by three teens who claim they were bored.
The Australian native was studying at East Central University. According to BBC News, the two younger teens, Chancey Luna, 16, and James Edwards, 15, were charged with first-degree murder, while the third teen, Michael Dewayne Jones, 17, was charged as an accessory to the crime.
Lane had been visiting his girlfriend's family in Duncan when he was gunned down while jogging. When asked the motive of the teens, they claimed it was just for fun because they had nothing better to do.
The victim's father, Peter Lane, told Sky News "it was heartless and to try to understand it was a short way to insanity."
Jones started to cry in court when explaining the incident, but a judge cut him off, declaring that a decision would be reached at a later date. All three teens will be tried as adults in the crime.
