Facial Expressions was a topic that made headlines at the 2013 MTV VMAs last night—whether it was jaws dropping at Miley’s tongue wagging stripper performance with Robin Thicke or the awkward stares at Lady Gaga’s anticipated over-the-top costumes.
10) The night opened with Lady Gaga’s glorious (and predictably odd) debut of her newest single, “Applause,” but the Mother Monster’s performance was not complete without those CRAZY EYES.

9) One picture that made its own headlines from the VMAs last night was the screen shot of Jaden, Willow, and Will Smith sharing a look of shock, what was rumored to be their reaction to Miley Cyrus’ grinding duet of “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke. It turns out, this photo of the famous family was captured during Lady Gaga’s opening performance!

8) Of course, the dapper Daft Punk was in attendance at the show in Brooklyn last night. Their faces are never revealed but the fans always get excited when they see these famous metallic helmets!

7) Katy Perry was ALL smiles in her glamorous grillz on the VMA’s red carpet, as she psyched up fans and VMA viewers for her live performance of her newest single “Roar” that closed the show!

6) The boys of One Direction were very happy after winning the VMA’s Moon Man Award for “Song of the Summer” and clearly, after getting a pep talk from a seashell bikini-clad Lady Gaga.

5) Taylor Swift definitely seemed to think Harry Styles was trouble when he walked on-stage with One Direction to present an award. A video that went viral during the VMAs was when T-Swift was caught mouthing “Shut the f*** up” when her former beau was on-stage. It’s debatable whether or not this rumor is true, but here’s the clip to judge for yourself.
4) Then again…both Styles and Swift snapped a picture together with Ed Sheeran at the VMAs After Party. Who knows after all?!

1) Ending the list on a high note: NYSNC cued the 90s fangirl screams when they tweeted a teaser about reuniting at the VMAs for a live performance and boy, did they deliver! Girls across the stadium, even Taylor Swift, lit up and even teared up as the 90s dance moves and throwback hits ensued.
