Judd Apatow knows a thing or two about making successful comedies. The godfather/mastermind behind comedic classics such as Superbad, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Bridesmaids has his eyes set on another project, and he’s bringing along the comedy scene’s newest golden girl, Amy Schumer.

According to Deadline, Apatow and Universal Pictures opted to pick up a script written by Schumer. The script is set to serve as a star vehicle for her, but Apatow is supposedly helping the breakout blonde add some finishing touches.

Cinemablend speculates that the movie could be a typical Apatow R-Rated comedy, but few details are known, other than Schumer planning to star as a lead.

Schumer has been making waves on Comedy Central thanks to her raunchy-funny network specials such as Mostly Sex Stuff and Inside Amy Schumer.

The last time Apatow put his golden touch to a female-driven script, the world was treated to the stereotype-breaking Bridesmaids. Could this new Apatow-Schumer project hold Hollywood over until someone convinces Kristen Wiig to make a sequel?
