Stephen King fans will be happy to learn that the second trailer for the upcoming remake of the horror classic Carrie debuted today.
For those who may have missed the original, Carrie is based on King’s novel about a young girl who is bullied relentlessly by her peers (including a particularly nasty shower and tampon incident) and her crazy-religious mother (who goes so far as to lock her daughter in a closet). However, it also turns out that Carrie has telekinetic powers, which she eventually uses to exact her revenge.
The latest trailer features plenty of gore and spooky camera shots with Kick-Ass actress Chloe Grace Moretz as the titular Carrie and Julianne Moore as her mother.
According to Variety, the remake is directed by Boys Don’t Cry helmer Kimberly Peirce with a script from Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
The original premiered in 1976 and starred Sissy Spacek, who earned an Oscar nom for her turn as the tortured teen, according to Deadline.
Carrie hits theaters October 18. Check out the trailer below.
