Fifty Shades of Grey is now a global empire and what’s a global empire without its own line of wines? Yes, E.L. James is presenting a line of 50 Shades inspired wines, since wine plays a key role in the books.
James is working with North Coast winemakers of California to create Fifty Shades of Grey Red Satin and White Silk wines, notes The LA Times.
“I’ve always had a penchant for good wine, so combining two of my passions to blend Red Satin and White Silk was a natural extension of the Fifty Shades trilogy,” James said in a statement on the wines’ website. “I hope all of you curl up with a glass as you enjoy the romance between Anastasia and Christian.”
The Red Satin is described as a bled with “flavors of black cherry, cocoa powder, creamy caramel and vanilla, leather and clove spice.” If you would prefer the White Silk, that has “Floral aromatics of lychee, honey and pear lead off this white blend, tempered by flavors of crisp grapefruit, mineral and lush pear with a faint hint of butterscotch,” according to the website.
Individual bottles are available for $17.99 and cases of 12 cost $215.88 each. You can also get a gift set with one bottle of each wine for $45.99. You will also be able to buy them in stores starting next month.
Maybe we’ll see Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson sipping the wine in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. It will be excellent product placement.
