Over the course of four seasons, Glee has paid tribute to plenty of music legends, but the fifth season will kick off with a really special tribute. The two-part season five premiere will feature all Beatles songs.
Columbia Records announced today that the cast album of the 14 songs featured throughout the two episodes will be released on Sept. 24, notes Entertainment Weekly.
The first part is called “Love, Love, Love” and features Will asking the New Directors crew to sing Beatles songs, while Rachel’s life in New York takes a new turn. It airs on Sept. 26 on Fox.
The second episode is titled “Tina in the Sky with Diamonds” and has Tina receiving a nomination for prom queen and alienates her friends. In New York, Rachel takes a job at a Broadway diner. It is scheduled for Oct. 3.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Glee cast beat the Beatles’ record for most Hot 100 appearances three years ago and they have sold 55 million songs and 13 million albums around the world.
In other Glee news, Dianna Agron told The New York Post this week that Ryan Murphy did not invite her to take part in the Cory Monteith tribute episode and she doesn’t think she will be back at all in the fifth season.
“I think moving on might be the wrong choice of words because [Glee] is always going to be a part of me and with me and I would always go back,” she told the Post. “So it’s not necessarily about a departure. It’s about what it’s imparted in me and what it’s given me.”
