Oscar winners Holly Hunter and Al Pacino will join forces for Manglehorn, the next film from director David Gordon Green. Pacino was previously attached to the project, but Hunter’s involvement was announced today in Toronto.

According to Variety, the project is being produced by Worldview Entertainment. WestEnd Films is overseeing foreign sales at the Toronto International Film Festival. Worldview CEO Christopher Woodrow, Worldview’s Molly Conners, Green, Lisa Muskat and Derrick Tseng are producing.

Other members of the cast include Spring Breakers director Harmony Korine and Argo actor Chris Messina. Filming begins in the fall in Austin, Texas.

The script, penned by Paul Logan, centers on a former criminal (Pacino) who is leading a peaceful, boring life until he decides to get back in the game.

“Holly, Chris and Harmony add a tremendous amount of prestige and talent to this project and we are delighted to have them join Al to bring David’s unique story to life,” Worldview COO Molly Conners said in a statement posted by Deadline.

Hunter won her Oscar for The Piano and is currently working on the Bonnie & Clyde TV miniseries. Pacino was recently on HBO in Phil Spector and is linked to a new film of King Lear.

As for Green, the Pineapple Express director just finished Joe with Nicholas Cage. That film, also co-produced by Worldview, was screened in Venice.
