CBS’ Under The Dome was easily the most-watched show of the summer, so it was only natural that Amazon would look to renew its deal with the network to stream episode of the show after they air. Since Under The Dome, based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, was picked up for a second season, Amazon and CBS said today that they renewed their streaming deal.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Amazon Prime Instant Video will again be the only online place to watch episodes of Under The Dome. It will follow the same terms as the deal for season one, with episodes being posted four days after they air. The show’s first season aired on Mondays and will end its summer run this Monday.
CBS also issued a statement today boasting about the show’s surprising success. Typically, summer programming rarely provides hits, but Under The Dome has been just that. It averaged 14.85 million viewers and a 3.9 rating in the key 18-49 demographic.
Under The Dome had started out as a mini-series, but it was renewed in July. The series is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, who is also producing Extant, which will run on CBS next summer.
Amazon Prime Instant Video is available with an Amazon Prime membership, which costs $80 a year. It is available on several devices, including Roku, Playstation 3, XBox 360 and iPad.
