After her debut album Yours Truly debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, Ariana Grande’s doctors have ordered her to take a break from singing and talking this week.
Grande apparently seriously strained her vocals during an appearance on Monday at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. On Tuesday morning, she appeared on a morning show to further promote her album but she couldn’t sing.
TMZ reports Grande has been forced to cancel various appearance over the next week or so, including The Queen Latifah Show and The Arsenio Hall Show. Doctors asked that she not talk or sing for at least four days.
“She is devastated at this news, but she knows she will have to rest,” a source told Page Six.
Grande made over 10 appearances last week alone to promote her solo album, which is the first since 2010 for a female solo artist to hit No. 1. Ke$ha’s Animal did the same in January of that year.
Grande, 20, took to Twitter to address the issue of her voice, but did not confirm she has had to cancel appearances because of it.
For those of u asking about my voice I screamed too much at my party totally irresponsible but it's better now, thanks for the well wishes
