As I Lay Dying's singer, Tim Lambesis, has been ordered to stand trial for attempting to hire an undercover sheriff's deputy to kill his estranged wife.
Lambesis was arrested back in May on one count of soliciting the murder of his wife, Reuters reports. The Christian rock singer's wife, Meggan, filed for divorce a year ago after eight years of marriage.
On Monday, the 32-year-old singer pleaded not guilty, claiming he was set up. Prosecutors say Lambesis allegedly asked the undercover cop posing as "Red" to murder his wife.
He also supposedly gave the sheriff's deputy $1,000 in cash in an envelope, along with information to get into her house and photos of his wife.
The prosecutors say the singer planned to use his children as his alibi.
According to Billboard, he told a someone at his gym his wife was making their divorce tough complete and was making it tough for him to see their three adopted children.
His defense attorney, Thomas Warwick, claims Lambesis' use of steroids had messed with his mind.
As I Lay Dying is a Grammy nominated band with six albums. An Ocean Between Us managed to reach number eight on Billboard's charts.
