Batman and Captain America were literally heroes over the weekend after a pair of children’s entertainers rescued a kitten from a burning home in Milton, West Virginia.
According to The Associated Press John Buckland, who dressed as Batman and is a former firefighter, along with Troy Marcum, who dressed as Captain America, rushed to a burning home near the place they were performing.
“We were at the American Legion doing an event for the vets and the children in the community,” Buckland explained to WSAZ. “The vets came over, said they saw some smoke, thought it was trash.”
Buckland, Marcum and a bystander rushed to the home, kicking in the door and window and rushed to the house. “I said, ‘Captain, I need you to find the biggest rock you can find, and throw it through that window right there to let some of this smoke out of that front room,’” he adds.
Buckland found a furry creature on the floor and rushed outside. He gave the kitten mouth-to-mouth when the feline came to and began swatting at its hero.
“It was actually pretty funny though, cause you had the whole Batman, Catwoman thing playing, you know?”
No one was home at the time of the fire.
