The latest casting rumor swirling around the seventh Star Wars film involves Star Trek actor Benedict Cumberbatch.
MTV News reports that rumors about Cumberbatch having a role seemed more solid than others since he was just in the director J.J Abrams Star Trek Into Darkness.
He told MTV that "I don't know. I genuinely don't know" how rumors got started. The British actor would love to be cast.
"People know I'd like to be, including the boss, most importantly," he added.
Cumberbatch believes the rumors might have started after he passed on Guillermo Del Toro's Crimson Peak.
The actor also said, "This is the simple truth. J.J. (Abrams) and I have worked together before. I would love to work with him again. No offer has been made. That is that," News Net 5 notes.
While he may not have been cast in the new Star Wars film, he is in talks to take the lead in David Grann's The Lost City of Z, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Cumberbatch would play British explorer Percy Fawcett who disappeared during a 1925 expedition into the Amazon. Brad Pitt was in talks two years ago for the same role, but the movie has had development trouble.
