Alex Billington, blogger for FirstShowing.net has admitted that he shouldn't have used 911 on a cell phone user during a screening of The Sacrament.

Billington was at a press screening of the horror film The Sacrament when someone took their cell phone out and he decided to do something about it, as previously reported. Theater management weren't willing to help so he called 911.

According to Flavorwire, Billington says he thought the cell phone user might have been trying to record the film and he wasn't going to let that slide.

He said in an email, "I was concerned that he was pirating and left the theater to contact the authorities to report what I thought was a crime in progress."

In an interview with Flavorwire, Billington later admitted, "I made a heat of the moment gaffe that lead to this news being reported... I realize my mistake in calling the wrong number to report piracy."

Billington said that Toronto International Film Festival staff told him "the policy is anyone in Press & Industry have the right to use any device in any way they want."
