A tabloid report on Monday claimed that Britney Spears ticket sales for her Las Vegas show were disasterous, but that claim has already been denied by Caesars Entertainment’s Tariq Shaukat.
A source for Radar Online claimed that executives were nervous that only three of Spears’ first 16 shows had sold out. “After spending hundreds of thousands on promo, they expected to instantly sell out all of the first 16 shows, but they didn’t come close!” the insider said. “In fact, Britney only sold out three of the 16 shows put on sale and many are considering this a disaster.”
The source noted that Celine Dion and Shania Twain never had problems selling out their shows. “So all of this put together really isn’t looking well for Britney. Ticket sales need to start skyrocketing or else there’s going to be a lot of disappointed investors and people involved with the show,” the source said.
According to Entertainmentwise, Shaukat said that Caesars is “very pleased, and, as we suspected, interest in Britney is very high from all over.” He noted that the three shows that sold out did so in an hour, Another executive said that Spears will sing live every night, contrary to other rumors that suggested she might lip-sync.
Spears recently spoke with E! News about her Vegas residency, noting that she liked the idea because it meant she didn’t sleep in a different bed every night, as she did on her tours. “The shows here are so incredible, I really want to bring my goods to the table,” she said.
Spears starts her residency at the Planet Hollywood Resort on Dec. 27.
