Carrie Underwood took her post as the news singer for NFL Football, taking the place of Faith Hill who held the role for six years.
Hill announced that 2012 was the last year she would sing the Sunday Night Football theme back in April. In May, NBC confirmed that Underwood was their first choice in replacing Hill. Following the announcement Underwood gushed, “I am thrilled to be a part of NBC's Sunday Night Football and am so honored they asked me. I have always loved football season, and it is so exciting to now become part of it every Sunday night!"
Sunday marked Underwood’s first official day as the Sunday Night Football singer when the Cowboys took on the New York Giants, Entertainment Wise reports.
Sporting short jean shorts and blue top, Underwood stunned as the new face of SNF. Underwood put her own spin on the new song, not wanting to outshine Hill but also wanting to make the song her own.
