Coca-Cola announced the release of their new product, Canada Dry Hot Ginger Ale, which will be stocked in Japanese vending machines starting October 21. This will be the first-ever hot, carbonated beverage.

According to the Daily News, Coca-Cola has been brewing up the recipe for four years, trying to get the carbonation with the heating just right. Each can provides a tasty drink full of cinnamon spice and apple flavor.

The company finally figured out the perfect recipe – combining water and calcium oxide make for chemical reaction that heats up each can of soda, but doesn't interfere with the carbonation of the soda.

The Huffington Post reports that Kirin Bevarage Co. is also stewing up a low-carbonation soda that can be drinken at warm temperatures. Warm soda might not be appealing in the US – and the Coca Cola product won't be available here – but it's extremely popular in Japan, especially during the cold winter months.

Does Canada Dry Hot Ginger Ale sound delicious to you, or would you rather have a hot chocolate?
