Back in January, Legendary Pictures hired Moon director Duncan Jones to direct a film adaptation of the popular MMORPG World of Warcraft. Since then, we’ve heard nothing about the film, but apparently it is still in the works. On Sunday, it was reported that Colin Farrell and Paula Patton may take parts in the film.

According to Deadline, Patton, who recently starred in 2 Guns and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, is already in negotiations with Legendary and co-producer Atlas Entertainment. Farrell has been offered another lead part, but Deadline’s sources say that talks could go either way. He’s on the fence about signing on at the moment.

Jones is still in the casting process, as production doesn’t start until January. The script, written by Charles Leavitt, is all set.

As previously reported, Jones was hired to direct in January. Developer Blizzard Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Alex Gartner will co-produce the film with Lionsgate and Atlas. The project did start at Warner Bros., where Lionsgate was still based when Jones signed on, but will likely move to Universal, where Lionsgate moved to over the summer.

If Farrell does join the film, it could give his career a much-needed boost. The actor’s last blockbuster, the Total Recall remake, was a flop for Sony. He did appear in the critically praised Seven Psychopaths and will be seen in Disney’s Saving Mr. Banks in December.
