The Walt Disney Company has announced new release dates for The Good Dinosaur, Finding Dory and Maleficent. Both Pixar films have been delayed.
The news for The Good Dinosaur is not surprising. Last month, the film lost its director, Up co-director Bob Peterson. It was originally scheduled for May 30, 2014. Now, it is being pushed over a year and a half to Nov. 25, 2015, reports TheWrap.
Finding Dory’s shift is surprising, but it’s necessary now that Good Dinosaur is being pushed back. Dory was scheduled for Nov. 25, 2015, but it will now not hit theaters until June 17, 2016.
Maleficent, which stars Angelina Jolie as the villain from Sleeping Beauty, has had its date changed in the past. Back in April 2012, the film was set for March 14, 2014, but then it was changed to July 2. Now, Deadline is reporting that the film will move to May 30, 2014.
Disney also made changes to a more immediate release: Dreamworks’ WikiLeaks film The Fifth Estate will now be released wide on Oct. 18. Also, Kevin Costner’s McFarland will hit theaters on Nov. 21, 2014. (Good luck, Costner - your film goes up against The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1.)
