Disney has said that it wants audiences to bring their Apple iPads to showings of The Little Mermaid.

Ahead of the Disney movie, the company has released an app called Second Screen Live, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The website for the app, states viewers can "interact with the film, play games, sing along, find new surprises, and compete with the audience.

Mashable notes that some of the games featured for The Little Mermaid include Scuttle Scope, Mer-maze and Sea Scrambler. The app will also provide on-screen lyrics, so kids can sing along.

According to Screencrush, consumer product specialist Hunter Walk says there has been talk of creating a movie theater experience where audiences can use their various electronic gadgets during a screening without people yelling at them to put it away.

It will be interesting to see if kids show up to screenings of The Little Mermaid with their iPad already to go and if others will be okay with it.

The Little Mermaid returns to theaters Sept. 20. Bring your iPad.
