Fans haven’t been happy since the casting of Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson for Fifty Shades of Grey was announced and now an online petition has been started.
Us Weekly reports that a petition on Change.org asks for the lead choices be changed.
“We want Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in 50 Shades,” the petition is titled. It has nearly 30,000 signatures as of Wednesday afternoon.
The White Collar actor and Gilmore Girls actress were fans’ popular choice after news was announced that a movie adaptation was in the works. Fans created fake trailers with their casting choices to celebrate.
The 31-year-old actress told ELLE back in October that she was aware of the trailers and was admittedly a little freaked out over them.
“People definitely do have strong opinions about it. I guess when people really identify with a concept, they feel strongly about it,” she said in the interview.
According to EntertainmentWise, novelist Brett Easton Ellis tweeted that Rob Pattinson was the E.L. James’ initial choice for the role of Christian Grey.
As previously reported, fans were not happy about Hunnam and Johnson being cast, enough that E.L. James and one of the film’s producers, Dana Brunetti responded on Twitter.
